Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an important security measure we use at Cygnus Music to protect your account. It adds a second layer of verification on top of your password, helping ensure that only authorised users can log in and manage your music, releases, finances, and settings.
What Is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?
2FA requires two things to log in:
- Something you know – your username and password
- Something you have – a code from an authentication app on your phone
This means even if someone knows your password, they cannot access your account without the second verification step.
How 2FA Works
When 2FA is enabled on your account:
- You enter your username and password as normal.
- You are then prompted to enter a 6-digit code from a mobile authenticator app.
- Once the code is accepted, you are logged in.
The 6-digit code refreshes every 30 seconds
Supported Authenticator Apps
You can use any standard authentication app, such as:
- Google Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Authy
These apps generate secure time-based codes that work with the LMS login flow.
How to Set Up 2FA
- Log in to your Cygnus Music account.
- Go to Account Settings.
- Find the Two-Factor Authentication section.
- Use your phone to scan the QR code displayed on-screen.
- Enter a current 6-digit code from your authenticator app.
- Save your changes.
Once set up, you will use your authenticator app code every time you log in.
Lost or Reset Device
If you lose access to your authenticator app (e.g., phone reset or replaced), please contact the Cygnus support team immediately so we can help you regain access securely.
Do not share your recovery codes, account passwords, or authentication codes with anyone.
Best Practices for 2FA
- Set up 2FA on all primary and secondary users tied to your label.
- Do not reuse your Cygnus password across unrelated services.
- If you change your phone or authenticator app, update 2FA before removing access from the old device.
Two-Factor Authentication is a required and standard security feature designed to give your account an extra layer of protection. Once enabled, you’ll use both your password and a 6-digit code from your phone to log in. This keeps your catalogue, finances, releases, and personal data secure and helps protect you from unauthorised access.
